Compare BLDC Fans
In this section, we will be comparing the BLDC Fans with the conventional LCR circuit fans.
BLDC (Brushless Direct Current) fans and normal fans (typically induction motor-based) differ significantly in terms of technology, efficiency, and performance. Here’s a comparison between the two:

- Normal Fan: Normal fans usually employ induction motors, which have brushes and commutators. These motors are simpler in design but are less efficient compared to BLDC motors.

- A BLDC Fan takes a little more time to start up to its full speed, but that difference is minimal and can be ignored.

- The capacitor on the normal fan usually requires a change every 3 -4 years. Since a BLDC Fan doesn’t use a capacitor, this would save the cost on capacitor replacement as well.
- Initial Cost:
- BLDC Fan: BLDC fans may have a higher initial cost compared to normal fans due to their advanced motor technology and energy-saving features. However, the long-term energy savings often justify the initial investment.
- Normal Fan: Normal fans typically have a lower initial cost compared to BLDC fans. They are more widely available and have been in use for many years, resulting in lower manufacturing costs.
In summary, BLDC fans offer superior energy efficiency, precise speed control, quieter operation, and lower maintenance requirements compared to normal fans.
In Indian homes, where power cuts are common and most of the homes use an inverter, BLDC fans are a great alternative. You may be able to run the BLDC fan for a longer duration on the invertor due to its low power consumption. Just for comparison, if your normal fan (consuming 70Watts) is able to run for 7 hours, a BLDC fan (consuming 35Watt) would last 14 hours on a similar inverted battery setup!
While they may have a higher initial cost, the long-term benefits in terms of energy savings and performance make them a preferred choice for many consumers, especially in environments where energy efficiency is prioritized.
